The weather today was quite windy. When I left work at 4pm, it was out of the West at 14 gusting to 18. Since my runway was 16-34, I was concerned about the crosswinds and whether or not it would be worth it to fly today. However, the TAFs said that the wind would die down and it did. When I got to the FBO it was out of 300 at 10. What a relief.
Today, we started with a normal climb out of the pattern, then a Vx climb at 62kts. Keeping airspeed was a little more difficult than usual, probably because I wasn't used to it. But, it was not difficult to do. We did turns back and forth and a 360 degree turn using a shallow angle of bank. Then we descended and began S turns along a tree-line that borders a railroad track. This was pretty easy. Then we did some steep spirals, and I couldn't hold the 45 degrees of bank to do it properly.
We came back, my instructor landed while I was on the controls and I pushed the throttle in just a hair twice on final and he felt and heard that the RPM was increasing. I must keep a careful watch on that so I don't do it inadvertantly again.
