HOW TO install the CAGS eliminator on your C5

One method for installing !CAGS on your C5 Corvette is here:

Installing the CAGS eliminator on your C5 Corvette will prevent the Corvette's computer from forcing you to shift from 1st gear to 4th gear during slow "pull-out" conditions.

First acquire a CAGS eliminator.  Mid America sold me their assembly for around $20.  There are 2 pieces: the smaller piece which connects to the transmission and the larger piece which attaches to the Corvette's wiring harness.  The larger piece contains a resistor which tells the Corvette's computer that the CAGS is working properly, even though it is disabled.

Jack and support your C5 using my instructions.  Identify the driver's side of the transmission, from the rear of the Corvette.

Notice that the smaller piece supplied by Mid America looks like the part already connected to the transmission.

Insert a flat blade screwdriver under the tab on the harness-side connector.  This tab is on the top of the connector.  Be careful not to pry too hard, as you may damage the tab.

    Separate the connectors.

Install the smaller CAGS piece on the transmission connector.

Then, connect the larger CAGS piece to the harness-side connector.

Finally, use the supplied zip ties to attach the larger piece to an existing vehicle harness.
